Mokugyo App Privacy Policy

Effective Date: November 23, 2025

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how AkiFukaku (“we”, “our”, or “us”) handles data in connection with the Mokugyo mobile application (“App”). We value your privacy and are committed to minimizing data collection, maintaining transparency, and ensuring appropriate security safeguards.

1) Scope

This Policy applies to data processed when you use the Mokugyo App. It does not apply to activities conducted through third‑party services or websites, which are governed by their respective privacy policies.

2) No Collection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

We do not collect any information that can be used to identify you personally, including but not limited to your name, email address, phone number, precise geolocation, contacts, photos, audio/video, or your device’s address book.

We do not build user profiles, conduct behavioral tracking, display ads, or sell/rent/share user data with third parties for their own purposes.

3) Data Stored on Your Device (Local Only)

To enable the App’s core functionality (tapping and accumulating the “Merit Count”), the App stores the following data locally on your device:

  • Data Item: Your aggregated numerical Merit Count.
  • Storage Location: On‑device storage via AsyncStorage (no cloud backup or remote server synchronization by the App).
  • Purpose: To preserve your progress between sessions on the same device.

The App does not transmit this data to our servers or any third‑party servers. If you uninstall the App or clear the App’s data, the locally stored Merit Count will be removed.

4) Network Activity and Permissions

The App does not perform network requests, analytics, or advertising. It does not request access to your contacts, camera, photo library, microphone, precise location, or other sensitive device data. The App uses haptic feedback and audio playback solely to provide in‑app vibration and sound effects.

5) Third‑Party Code and Platform Services

  • The App is built using the Expo framework and React Native, and includes libraries such as expo‑audio and expo‑haptics to enable audio playback and haptic feedback.
  • The App does not integrate analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or cloud storage SDKs (e.g., Firebase) and does not transmit personal data to us.
  • Your device’s operating system or app store (e.g., Apple App Store or Google Play) may process non‑identifying diagnostics or crash reports under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control such platform‑level processing.

6) Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not marketed toward any specific age group. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us without parental consent, please contact us using the details below, and we will take reasonable steps to delete such information or disable cloud sync for that account.

7) Data Security

Because the App stores data locally on your device and does not transmit it, you control the security of your data. We recommend using a device passcode and keeping your operating system updated. No method of electronic storage is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security under all circumstances.

8) Data Retention and Deletion

Your Merit Count remains on your device until you clear the App’s data or uninstall the App. Within the App, you may also reset the counter manually (e.g., long‑press the counter to reset to zero). Once removed, the data is not recoverable by us.

9) Your Rights

Because we do not collect PII or store data on our servers, traditional rights to access, correct, or delete PII held by us generally do not apply. You control your data locally on your device.

10) International Transfers

Not applicable. The App does not transmit your data outside your device.

11) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by posting an updated version on this page. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Unless otherwise stated, updates take effect upon posting.

12) Contact Us

If you have questions, requests, or complaints regarding this Policy or our data practices, please contact us:

13) Legal Notice & Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided “as is.” We shall not be liable for any direct or indirect loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App. If this Policy conflicts with any applicable platform policies (e.g., Google Play Developer Program Policies), the platform policies and mandatory laws shall prevail.
